Welcome to Castlehill Chess Club!

The largest and most active chess club in Dundee. For beginners to Masters, Juniors to adults. We’re always looking for new members – our membership is rapidly expanding!. We have male and female members, the young and the old. Coaching is available.
We also have our own dedicated “World Wide Online Chess Club” so no matter where in the world you are, you can become a member and play in our online competitions!

If you want to improve your chess, play casual chess, league chess, or any kind of chess, our club normally meets every Thursday throughout the year (Except Christmas). Doors open at 7:15pm and play starts from 7:30pm.

If you are local to the Dundee area, a student at Dundee or Abertay Universities or you are interested in playing online, please complete this form and we will be in touch with you (remember to check your spam emails!). We welcome players of all ages and level of ability.

CASTLEHILL ONLINE QUICK-PLAY SERIES - ROUND 1 Tuesday 7th May 2024 - 7:30pm Season 2023-24 In the 1st Online Quick-Play of the 2023-24 season held on Tuesday 7th May 24, 7:30pm on Lichess.org, we had 8 players involved. A bit disappointing, but hopefully over the series, we will get more. It was only a 5 round Swiss, due to the numbers, so a quick night for all! THE 15th IAN McNAB MEMORIAL TROPHY 2023-24 Thurs 25th April 25 – 7:30pm Not many members left who knew Ian McNab, but those that do, have many memories, good and bad! Ian would have loved this event in his name and in true McNab style, no seeding, no grades and, no requirements to be silent during play! SEASON 2023-24 SNCL (Scottish National Chess League) Sunday 21st April 24 Round 9 (last) + the Scottish team lighting tournament Dundee City teams are a joint venture between Castlehill CC & Dundee CC The final Round of this season’s SNCL took place on Sunday 21st April.
