QUICK-PLAY GRAND PRIX ONLINE 2024

Updated: 18/08/24
Season 2023-24

For the third time in a row a very poor turnout, but that did not stand in the way of Matthew Hunter who is now our new Castlehill Online Quick-Play Grand Prix Champion 23-24!

Well played Matthew, and with one round to spare!

———————————————————

Once again a poor turnout, but given the Euro`s are on, not unexpected! Still we had 5 players (one left, by error), and a few games were played! Matthew Hunter J15, was on fire, winning all three of his matches to finish first on the night. This win also keeps Matthew at the top of the overall standings, with two nights to go. Thank you to all 5 players for supporting this event on the night.

Round 4 is on Tuesday 23rd July 24, 7:30pm on Lichess!

——————————————-

The 2nd Online Quick-Play was not good with only 4 players turning up! Still those 4 players shared the points between themselves and we move on to round 3! Lets hope for a better turnout on Tues 2nd July 24!

—————————————–

In the 1st Online Quick-Play of the 2023-24 season held on Tuesday 7th May 24, 7:30pm on Lichess.org, we had 8 players involved. A bit disappointing, but hopefully over the series, we will get more. It was only a 5 round Swiss, due to the numbers, so a quick night for all!

It was a very competitive and strong competition which included a CM and 4 juniors, one of which was playing for the very first time!
Our top seed on the night was Rishi Vijayakumar J13 and he did not disappoint finishing top of the pile on 5 out of 5! Richard Kynoch fought him all the way and his only loss was against Rishi in round 3.

Josh Dickson J13, was on fire tonight, starting off with an outstanding win in round one against Graham Mooney CM! Josh then followed that up with a win against Robert Jackson in round 5, to finish in equal 3rd place with Matthew Hunter J15 on the night, outstanding!

It was not Graham`s night as he only scored 1 point out of 5! We all have nights like that, no matter how good we are!

Justin Chocholous J13 had a tough baptism of fire, but hopefully he enjoyed the experience and we will see more of him from now on.

Congratulations to Rishi, but it`s only round 1!

Next round is on Tuesday 4th June 24, 7:30pm.

See you all then!

The 5th (last) ONLINE QUICK-PLAY GRAND PRIX COMPETITION
Tues 15th Aug 2023

Congratulations to Rishi Vijayakumar J11 on becoming the first ever Castlehill Online Quick-Play Champion!

Richard Polaczek IM was leading going into the last round, but did not play in the last round! This opened the door for Rishi, but things did not really go to plan as another Richard, Mr Kynoch not only beat Rishi in round two, but never lost a match to finish in 1st place on 5 points! Well played Richard!

However, Rishi did finish in 2nd place and this was just enough to sneak passed Richard Polaczek IM by one point to take the title!

Just another one to add to his growing list of Castlehill titles!
