TAFCA – J.R.Chalmers Grand Prix: Updated 11/03/17
Master Aaron Gourley J15 (1010) from Perth Chess Club sits top of the J.R.Chalmers Grand Prix table on 9½ points, 1½ points clear of Alastair Dawson (1807) from Dundee CC and Ian Washington (1427) from Perth in 2nd place. Aaron`s league form has been electric with 7 wins so far. Alastair Dawson while not being spectacular is still within touching distance of Aaron, while Ian Washington`s league form has also been exciting with 7 wins!
But hot on Aaron`s heals is his dad Martin Gourley (1880) (Perth) who sits in equal 4th place with Castlehill`s Colin Young (1329) on 7½ points. Colin has had a good league campaign and considering his grade is punching well above his team mates! Will Aaron hold off his challengers, or will someone catch him at this late stage? We only have a few league games to go and maybe the TAFCA Allegro (Doubtful?) which is a double point’s event.
Still all to play for and it`s great to see a junior top at the moment and other chess clubs out with the city of Dundee being represented at the top!
