The 2nd TAFCA ALLEGRO CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES Report

December 22, 2020NewsBy Ray Noble

The 2nd TAFCA ALLEGRO CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
(Incorporating Perth Allegro)

The 2nd TAFCA Allegro of the season was held at Perth (virtually!) on Monday 21st December 20. 7:30pm. 35 players took part in a 5 round Swiss, 15 minutes each player. There was a mixture of grades from complete beginners, to advanced!
Castlehill Chess Club Dundee had 17 entries which amounted for almost 50% of the entries on the night (thank you all who entered!! The big disappointment was no entries from Perth Chess Club, and this was the Perth Allegro, held on their club night!
Congratulations go to Sam Gregory (Castlehill) and Ed Spencer (Dundee) with both finishing on 4½ point to be crowned jointly, the TAFCA Allegro Perth Champions 2020-21!

Castlehill players did very well with 5 players in the top ten players!

STANDINGS ON NIGHT (TAFCA Allegro Perth Championship)
1= Sam Gregory (Castlehill) & Ed Spencer (Dundee)   4½ pts
3= Andre Babin & Jan Barron-Majerik (both Castlehill) 4 pts

5= Gary Weir (Dundee) & Pawel Kosior (Castlehill) 3½ pts

Andre Babin leads in both the TAFCA Allegro Championship and J.R Chalmers Grand Prix Memorial events so that makes him the Christmas number 1 player 2020!
