THE 16th IAN McNAB MEMORIAL TROPHY 2024-25
Thurs 24th April 24 – 7:30pm
960 Chess (Fisher-Random)
We had 13 players listed at the start of the competition, which was really good! We once again stuck with the 960 (Fisher-Random) chess which takes everybody out of their comfort zone!
As normal we ran a 5 round Swiss, 15 minutes each player, with a different position set up for each round. As normal, how-to castle was the main talking point, but this time, most players got it right!
In the end, it was congratulations to Jan Klingelhoefer on becoming the 16th Ian McNab Memorial Champion 2024-25, with a perfect 5 out of 5! Outstanding performance from Jan and a well-deserved title! The runner-up was past winner, Vladyslav Drabych on 4 points, only losing to Jan!
We had a two-way tie for 3rd place on 3 points, Euan Murray & Daniel Colman!
As usual, it was a noisy night, especially for the last matches to finish, which made is a truly authentic Ian McNab night!
Thank you to everyone who supported this event, and once again, Congratulations to Jan on becoming champion!
