TAFCA LEAGUE ONLINE – Match Report
Div 1 – Thurs 10th Sept 20; 7:30pm
Castlehill Armadillo`s 1½, Dundee Brachiosaurus` 2½
Well I think Castlehill Armadillo`s chances of winning the title have gone now after losing to a very strong and experienced Dundee Brachiosaurus`! I must say well played to all the players in the Brachiosaurus` team who played out of this world chess on the night and took the game full on to the Armadillo`s. One could say an off night for the Armadillo`s, but one could also say a on, on, on fire night for the Brachiosaurus` and deserved winners on that performance!
Board one: Declan Shafi (2141) made a miscalculation and was always on the wrong end of it against Alastair Dawson (1806) who was not for letting slip his opportunity! But Declan is a fighter and if necessary he will like he did here, grovel for the draw!
Board two: Graham Mooney (1866) was a man without a plan (or is that a plan without a man?)! Add to that poor move selections from Graham and you are going to get hurt, even destroyed from a man like Frank “007” Stevenson (1647)! It was just one of those nights for Graham and we have all had them, and will do again!
Board three: Mister “Rock Steady”, Andre Babin (1865) has been in sweet form of late, especially as a team player for the Armadillo`s! John Robertson Jnr (1546) did not have the answers in the end, but what a fight he put up! Andre must have been mentally exhausted by the end of this encounter!
Board four: Robert Jackson (1573) & Ray Flood (1509) may have been on bottom board but they served up a board one performance and what a bruiser it was, knocking seven bells out of each other. But Ray`s game and belief in himself at the moment is high and he deserved the win and ultimately the match for the Brachiosaurus`!
That was a tough battle tonight and the best team won. Congratulations and well deserved Alastair, Frank, John & Ray, A.K.A. Dundee Brachiosaurus`!
That puts the Armadillo`s in 3rd place, 4 points behind leaders Dundee Allosaurus` and 2 points behind St.Andrews Fun Team A.
The Brachiosaurus` move into 5th place on board points, from Castlehill Bandicoot`s. The Brachiosaurus` and Bandicoot`s are the only “B” teams in division one and are not only fighting to avoid possible relegation, but to be the top “B” team in the division! It could all come down to the last match when they face each other!
Will it be an “extinction or a rebellion”? We will just have to wait and see!
