CLUB NIGHT REPORT: Thurs 10th Jan 19
The first club night of 2019 saw 36 players down, 13 of them juniors! Great start for 2019 and we still had players missing!
It war round 3 of the Club Championship (Part One) with 9 matches on.
Ray Flood (1512) 0 – 1 Marten Kats (1114)
Biggest shock of the night or even the Championship so far! What a result for Marten beating a player of Ray Flood experience and a grading dif of 398 points! Not only that, Marten is 3 out of 3 so far and tops the standings! Kats purring tonight Lol!
Andre Babin (1844) 1 – 0 Cameron Wilson (1302)
Cameron had a “titanic” battle against Andre, 542 points above him, but just could not change the past against the ice cool Andre, and like the Titanic, Cameron sank without a trace!
Euan Dawson (1798) 1 – 0 Robert Jackson (1564)
Euan seen off the tricky opponent Robert and finally showed what he`s made of after a poor start in this years championship.
Alastair Dawson (1742) 1 – 0 Lisa Paton (926)
Josh Cargill (907) 0 – 1 Keith Rose (1495)
Graham Atkins (1371) 0 – 1 Ben Volland (1822)
Graham got a quick lesson on how not to play chess against the young chess Master Ben Volland!
Tom Constance (1521) 1 – 0 Scot McKenzie (515)
Ray Noble (1482) 1 – 0 Sneha Sripada (UG)
Sneha showed a lot of promise and even some creative moves against the odds! She paid a heavy price with an early Queen move against the old club pro, Ray Noble from which Ray made her pay the price! But he was surprised on a couple of occasions by Sneha`s move selections which he was not expecting! A junior to watch if she puts her mind to it. Not only that, even in defeat Sneha lights up the hall with her beaming smile!
