CLUB NIGHT REPORT: Thurs 5th July 2018
Summer holidays and good weather makes the chess club less busy, but we still mustered 17 players down! This included a new junior member on the night!
JUNIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP 2017-18
Anish Chaudhuri 0, Ramit Kanodia 1
This result confirmed Ramit Kanodia as the Castlehill Junior Club Champions 2017-18. Congratulations Ramit on a well deserved title! Rishabh Akula was Runner-up just missing out by half a point!
It is good to see the Junior Club Championship back and all the juniors involved enjoyed the competition! Bring on next season!
5-MINUTE GRAND PRIX
Well the 4th 5-minute had 9 players involved, but missing was the current leader after 3 events, Andy Rowe. This gave others, or especially 2nd placed Subhayu Banerjee a great chance to establish a good lead over Andy going into the last night!
But alas for Subhayu it was not one of his good nights as he finished in only equal 5th. It was good enough to tie with Andy in 1st place, but it could have been better! Andy will be happy about that! Alastair Dawson finished in top spot, while Ray Noble and Ed Walton shared 2nd place.
Results (on night)
1st Alastair Dawson (7.5pts)
2nd= Ray Noble & Ed Walton (6pts)
4th Graham Atkins (4.5pts)
