CLUB NIGHT REPORT: Thurs 23rd Nov 17
Another busy night at Castlehill with 28 players down for a game of chess. On tonight was the Ladder, Junior Club Championship and 2 TAFCA matches. Well one at least as Perth A did not show up, so our “C” team did not get a game.
TAFCA
Div 1
Castlehill C v Perth A (No show)
Div 2
Castlehill D 2, Dundee C 2
This was always going to be a tight match with Dundee C favourites to win it, along with the division 2 league title. Castlehill were out graded on all boards, but managed to get a draw.
….Castlehill………………………………….Dundee C
1.Tom Constance (1404) ½ – ½ (1490) Gordon Robertson
2.Ray Noble (1398) ½ – ½ (1475) Robert Burnett
3.Subhayu Banerjee (1359) 0 – 1 (1380) Alan Woodcock
4.Gordon Thomas (1343) 1 – 0 (1377) Ray Flood
I think Dundee C are the top team in division 2, but then again we do not know the strengths of new team Newport Knights? They could be the dark horse in this division!
JUNIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
Ramit & Anish were the top juniors tonight with both winning all four of their matches. One just wonders why they did not play each other?
Arya Sanu J9 got his first win of the competition by upsetting his sister Ananya Sanu J11. Oh he will pay for that when he gets home!
Ramit Kanodia J10 sits top of the table, with Krish Akula J10 in 2nd place. Still a long way to go and the kids seem to be enjoying the format.
