CLUB NIGHT REPORT: Thurs 19th April 2018
40 players down on a busy internal club competition night. We had Club Championship; Random Knockout, Ladder and Junior matches, plus coaching! Phew I am tired already!
We had ten Club Championship matches on tonight. There were no major shocks and all the results are on our website. The big match to decide the Club Championship is still to be played.
Scot McKenzie (473) 0, (725) Ramit Kanodia (J) 1
This is a good result by Ramit. It’s not a shock result as Ramit is graded higher and has a lot more experience than Scot. But for a junior to win against an adult player is always a good feeling, maybe not for the adult, but none the less!
Ben Volland (J) (1706) 1, (1831) Lloyd Hughes 0
Did not see this match but am lead to believe that Ben slowly squeezed Lloyd to death like a Boa Constrictor!
We had two sections of 4 players, with the top graded players playing in section one, and the rest in section two.
In section one; Ray Noble defied the odds by winning two matches in a strong section to finish equal 1st with Andy Rowe who he beat!
In section two, Gordon Thomas was in cruise control as he won all 3 of his matches to take 1st place
For all the results and standing please visit our website Ladder page.
Once again another successful night’s chess at Castlehill. Next Thursday sees the 10th Ian McNab Memorial and this time we are playing 960 (Fischer Random) chess. This should be fun!
