This will be an allegro graded tournament; all
matches will be put forward for grading. |

The Chess Scotland Allegro rules will
apply. |
| 3. |
The" Qualifying Ladder section" will
run from November to May each year. |
| 4. |
The Final "All-Play-All" section
will be played by the beginning of June. (top 4 players) |
| 5. |
Closing date for entries set by Competition
Organiser. |
| 6. |
All players entered will be put in the ladder
as follows; Lowest graded player at top of Ladder working
downwards to the highest graded player at the bottom of the
ladder. |
| 7. |
Allegro grade's are used; If no allegro grade
then normal grade will be used; If ungraded competition organiser
will give an estimate grade. |
| 8. |
Any new players joining after the first match has
taken place will be placed at the bottom of the ladder no matter
what there grade. |
| 9. |
TIME-CONTROL: - 20 Minutes each player
(G/40) |
| 10. |
ALL-PLAY-ALL FINAL SECTION: After the
closing date for all matches to be played, the top four players
qualify for the final, which will be a all-play-all event, with
the Champion & R/up places being decided. |

TIE-BREAK: In the event of a tie in the
final section, see tie-break rules. |
| 12. |
CHALLENGES:- You may challenge any player
above you within 7 rungs. |
|
a) You cannot play consecutive matches against
the same opponent. You must have played TWO MATCHES before
you can play the same opponent again. |
|
b) You are limited to playing the same opponent
no more than 5 times in the qualifying ladder section. |
|
c) All valid challenges must be accepted and
played within three weeks. (subject to rule 12a, b & rule15). |
|
d) Colour determined by lot for every match. |
|
e) If the challenger wins, they move up two
rungs. |
|
f) If the Challenger loses, they drop down two
rungs and there opponent moves up one rung. |
|
g) If the match is a draw, nobody moves (Status
que). |
|
h) You can only play FOUR(4) chess
challenge matches per club night. |
|
i) If a match has been arranged in advance
players should notify the competition organiser of dates, then if
someone does not turn up you can claim the game by forfeit (see
rule 13c). |

PENALTIES:- |
|
a) Failure to accept or play a valid challenge
within the rules will constitute a forfeit (subject to rule 15).
And result in a win for the opponent. |
|
b) For every six weeks of inactivity the player
will drop down one rung, this does not apply to the player at the
top of the ladder. |
|
c) All infringements of the rules will result in
forfeit of the match and a report sent to the committee for
further action if necessary. |
|
d) Two no-shows will result in the offender being
removed from the ladder and the matter brought before the
committee. |

RECORDING OF RESULTS:- Once the match is
completed both players are responsible for filling in the results
sheet and signing it. (This will be in the club at all times).
Players must also where appropriate change their rung positions on
the ladder. |
| 15. |
If you will be unable to accept challenges for a
period of time (holidays), please notify the competition
organiser. When doing so please give an estimated return date.
(Rule 13b will still apply). |
| 16. |
The competition organiser will check the results
and ladder placing to ensure they are correct, and if necessary
alter the ladder. |
| 17. |
You must have played at least 3 matches in the
ladder to qualify for the all-play-all section final. |
| 18. |
The competition organiser and/or committee have
the right to make amendments deemed appropriate to ensure the
smooth running of the tournament. |
| 19. |
TIE-BREAK RULES (In order of use) (Final
Section) |
|
a) Head to Head score if applicable. (If more
than one match combined score counts) |
|
b) Play-Off - 15 minutes each, colour by lot. |
|
c) If still unresolved, best of three, 5-minute
matches, third match colour by lot. |
|
d) Lowest graded player wins. |
|
e) Toss of coin. |
