LADDER QUALIFYING SECTION 2021-22 It`s back!

March 28, 2022NewsBy Ray Noble

LADDER QUALIFYING SECTION 2021-22

This will run from Thursday 24th March, until about end of July. This competition was created to help players who did not have a match or league match but wanted to play competitive chess a game which goes for allegro grading rather than just fun games.

We run three tables: Three ways to win a medal and one for the top trophy!

  • Points Table: Most points scored, including byes. The players who finish in 1st place and runners up spot will qualify for Finals night.
  • Percentage Table: Best Win Percentage score, (excluding byes): The player with the higher percentage (excluding byes) will qualify for finals night!
  • TRP: Published grade & TPR; best difference (excluding byes):

At last we managed to start the Ladder for this season on Thursday 24th March 2022. We had two sections of 4 players each, one junior and one adult.

Keith Rose proved to strong on the night and won all three of his games! Conner Kelly also played well only losing out to Keith. You should have seen his finish against Ray Noble, it was a beauty! Ray Noble and Colin Young on the other hand consoled each other with a drawn game!

In the junior section new member Sean Lewis (J14) showed us a lot of promise and like Keith Rose, won all three of his matches against experienced juniors!

Ramit Kanodia (J14) won 2 of his games, with Josh Dickson (J11) winning one and Noah Dickson (J8) yet to get off the mark!

This puts Keith Rose and Sean Lewis joint top on in two tables with Sean leading in the third table.

A long way to go so watch this space!
