Albyn Championships Aberdeen: Saturday 9th December 2017
Congratulations are in order for our very own Charvi Kanodia J15 who finished in 1st place on Saturday 9th December in the NEJCA girls tournament! The tournament was the Albyn Championship in Aberdeen. This is the first major junior competition that Charvi has finished top of the field and she was very happy indeed. I am sure all of the players in Castlehill Chess Club Dundee are very happy for you and congratulate you on your success. May it long continue!
On the other hand our male junior players did not fair as well as Charvi, but gained a lot of experience from these championships. The field tends to be stronger in depth in the boys, than the girls. Charvi`s brother Ramit J10 was playing, along with Rishabh Akula J12 who just missed out on 3rd place, (I am not sure if Rishabh`s brother Krish was playing). So it’s bragging rights to Charvi over her brother Ramit! Go girl go!
It’s good to see our juniors playing in events outside of the club and not only enjoying themselves, but competing at the top as well. It makes all the work worth while.
Once again, well played Charvi!
